I joined Hawthorne Eye Associates, P.A. full–time in July 2012. Prior to becoming a full time member of the Hawthorne Eye team, I referred many patients to the doctors of Hawthorne Eye for expanded medical conditions and surgery. I attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville and majored in Chemistry. After graduating from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN, in 1985, I did an Optometry Internship at the Eye Care Surgery Center in Baton Rouge, LA, and Carl Albert Indian Hospital in Ada, OK. I opened my private practice in Winston-Salem, with a special interest in pediatric eye care. I had the privilege to serve on the Forsyth County Board of Health from 2008 through 2018 and am a former Chairman of the Board.  I have also previously served on the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Health Board, am the Past-President of the local Lions Club, and was past Clinic Director of the Winston- Salem Industries for the Blind. My wife, Joy, and I love to travel and attend cultural events.  I enjoy working at my farm, gardening and woodworking.  I also enjoy water sports and spending time with family and friends.
